‘Birthday Night’ to vie in Bangladesh

Iranian short film ‘Birthday Night’ to screen at Bangladesh film festival.

The Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh (GYFFB) is set to host Iranian short film ‘Birthday Night’ for its 2019 event.

Directed by Omid Shams, the award-winning film narrates the story of two friends and business partners who face a dramatic situation on their way to a birthday party, learning more about each other in the process.

Shams’s film has experienced frequent screenings at international film festivals including in Austria, Belgium, France, India, Italy, Poland, Turkey, and the US.

The 20-minute short received numerous awards including the 2018 Linz International Short Film Festival in Austria’s Best Short Film award, Special Jury Award at Poland’s 16th Wegiel Film Festival, Best Cinematography award at the 2019 Milestone Worldwide Film Festival in Italy, and the Best of the Fest Award at the 2018 Short Sweet Film Festival in the US.

The GYFFB is an international event held annually in Bangladesh which seeks to encourage teens and young adults to create films about issues affecting them in modern society.

GYFFB features some of the world’s best short films made by youth, along with a youth selection panel.

The event will be held September 5 – 7, 2019.
